Visa Wellington On a Plate in Wellington
Launched in 2009 partly as a response to the global financial crisis, Visa Wellington On a Plate is Wellington's flagship food and drink festival, now spanning two annual editions and headlined by the Burger Wellington competition across more than 250 participating venues citywide each year.
Visa Wellington On a Plate began in August 2009, launched by the newly formed Wellington Culinary Events Trust partly as a response to the global financial crisis, with the idea of giving the city's restaurants and bars a reason to draw customers through what was traditionally a quiet winter trading period.
