What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The festival turns grilling, an everyday street-food tradition in Niger, into an organized competitive and culinary showcase, featuring both familiar staples like kilishi, spiced dried and grilled meat jerky, and souya, grilled skewered meat, alongside more ambitious dishes such as the mechoui de chameau, or camel roast, highlighted in the fifth edition

02

The mystery stays covered

Running roughly twelve hours a day across three days, the event pairs a genuine grilling competition, judged among eleven teams in its most recent edition, with activities for both children and adults, positioning it as a family occasion rather than a professional trade event alone

03

The city starts moving

Organizers frame the festival explicitly as a showcase for Nigerien culinary creativity and artisanal grilling skill, and as a link between generations built around shared festive meals
