Tinian Hot Pepper Festival in San Jose
The Tinian Hot Pepper Festival, affectionately called 'Pika Fest' by locals, is an annual celebration held at the Fiesta Grounds in San Jose, Tinian, typically over President's Day weekend in February, now in its twenty-second year. Organised by the Marianas Visitors Authority with the Tinian Mayor's Office, it honours the island's small but fiery native hot pepper, the donni' sali, with food sales, live entertainment, competitions and arts and crafts.
Each President's Day weekend in mid-February, the Fiesta Grounds in San Jose, Tinian, host the Tinian Hot Pepper Festival, an event now in its twenty-second year that locals affectionately call 'Pika Fest', pika being the Chamorro word for spicy.
