Norwegian Food Festival Alesund in Alesund
Den Norske Matfestivalen, the Norwegian Food Festival, takes over Alesund's harbourfront every late August, centered on a main tent at St. Olavsplass. Now in its fourth decade, it combines a farmers market, street food, a dedicated children's food festival, and the Alesund Olfestival beer and cider tent, all built around promoting Norwegian-grown, farmed, and fished food along the town's Art Nouveau quaysides.
The Norwegian Food Festival in Alesund grew out of a straightforward premise: put the country's farmers, fishers, and food producers in front of the public, on the quay of a town that already draws visitors for its architecture.
