Norwegian Shellfish Festival Mandal in Mandal
Skalldyrfestivalen turns the small southern town of Mandal into an open-air seafood festival every August, always on the second weekend of the month. Founded in 1988, it now draws close to sixty thousand visitors over four days for shellfish and fish served along the harbor, a funfair, concerts and a world championship in shrimp peeling, making it one of Norway's largest food and culture festivals.
Skalldyrfestivalen began in 1988 in Mandal, a small town on Norway's southern coast whose economy and identity have long been tied to the sea.
