Gladmat Stavanger in Stavanger
Gladmat is Norway's largest food festival, held every summer in Stavanger since 1998. The event turns the harbor promenade at Vagen and neighboring streets into an open-air showcase for food producers, chefs and restaurants, with entry to the grounds free and individual dishes sold at a fixed price. In recent years the festival has drawn crowds estimated as high as a quarter of a million people over four days.
Gladmat traces its roots to Matfylket Rogaland, a regional network built around promoting the food traditions of Rogaland county, on Norway's southwest coast, where Stavanger sits at the center of a farming and fishing hinterland with a long culinary identity of its own.
