Galiyat Snow Festival in Nathia Gali/Galiyat

The Galiyat Snow Festival is a three-day winter event organized by the Galiyat Development Authority across Nathiagali, Ayubia, Dunga Gali, Khanaspur and Mushkpuri Top, using the region's heavy snowfall to draw visitors to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's pine-forested hill stations each winter season with skiing, tubing and cultural activities.

Long before it became a winter sports destination, the Galiyat belt above Abbottabad, running through Nathiagali, Ayubia, Dunga Gali and Khanaspur, served as a summer hill-station retreat, its pine and walnut forests offering relief from the plains long before Pakistan existed as a state.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The festival spreads across five separate venues in the Galiyat hill-station belt rather than a single site, letting the Galiyat Development Authority use whichever locations have the best snow cover that year

02

The mystery stays covered

Nathiagali itself sits at about 7,900 feet amid pine, oak and walnut forest, giving the festival a backdrop of historic colonial-era buildings and hiking tracks alongside the snow sports, a combination distinct from the higher-altitude, ski-resort-centered Malam Jabba event further north
