Fiesta Nacional del Inmigrante in Coronel Bogado
Since 2005, Coronel Bogado has held the Fiesta Nacional del Inmigrante each May, organized by the Association of Immigrants and Descendants of Slavs as tribute to the Russian, Belarusian, Czech, Slovak, Polish, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, and Yugoslav families who settled the area, with typical dress, dance performances, and a crowned National Queen of the Immigrant.
Coronel Bogado, in Itapua department, is best known nationally for chipa, but its population also carries a distinct immigration history that the town has chosen to formally celebrate.
