Nihon Matsuri Aso Japonesa in Villa Elisa
Nihon Matsuri is an annual Japanese cultural and gastronomic festival held in the Colonia Japonesa neighborhood of Villa Elisa, Itapua department. Staged at a private park with its own baseball field, the event showcases Japanese food, culture, and community life built up by the town's Japanese-Paraguayan immigrant population.
Villa Elisa, in Paraguay's Itapua department, holds a Japanese immigrant colony whose members settled the area as part of Japan's twentieth-century agricultural emigration to Paraguay, one of several such communities scattered through the country's southern departments.
