Festival del Mango de Tambogrande in Tambogrande
Tambogrande, a district in Piura on Peru's northern coast, is one of the country's leading mango-growing areas, exporting Kent and Haden varieties to markets in North America and Europe. The district's mango festival celebrates the harvest with producer fairs, tastings, and cultural programming timed to the crop's main season.
Tambogrande sits in Piura's Chira and Piura river valleys, a stretch of northern Peruvian coastal desert transformed into productive farmland by twentieth-century irrigation projects that brought Andean runoff to otherwise arid soil.
