Pinangat Festival in Camalig
Camalig, Albay celebrates its signature dish, pinangat, taro leaves and chili stewed in coconut milk and meat, tied with coconut leaf string, during a festival running June 10 to 24 alongside the town fiesta honoring patron Saint John the Baptist. Recognized by municipal resolution in 2000, the festival returned in recent years after a pandemic and volcano-related hiatus.
In Camalig, Albay, a single dish carries enough local pride to anchor a two-week civic festival.
