Pahiyas Festival in Lucban
Pahiyas is a harvest thanksgiving festival in Lucban, Quezon, held each May 15 for the feast of San Isidro Labrador, in which houses along the town's streets are decorated with colorful arrangements of crops, fruit and thin, brightly dyed rice wafers called kiping, turning the whole town into an open-air display.
Pahiyas traces back to a local farming custom in Lucban, a town in Quezon province at the base of Mount Banahaw, where residents historically brought their harvest to the parish church to be blessed on the feast day of San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers, as thanks for a good growing season.
