The story

Taste Festival Gruczno in Gruczno

Festiwal Smaku is a two-day open-air food and craft gathering held near a historic mill in Gruczno, a village in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region. It brings together regional producers, folk artists, beekeepers, restaurateurs and winemakers from the Lower Vistula Valley, Kociewie, Kuyavia, and the Chelmno and Dobrzyn lands.

Each August, the village of Gruczno, tucked along the Vistula in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region, hosts one of Poland's better-known celebrations of regional food: Festiwal Smaku, or the Taste Festival.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The festival is built around direct contact between visitors and the people who make regional food: farmers, beekeepers, cheesemakers, bakers and winemakers set up stalls to sell and explain their products rather than simply display them

02

The mystery stays covered

Its centerpiece is the Taste of the Year competition, where a jury tastes and scores entries of meat products, dairy, baked goods and inventive new foods from across the wider region

03

The city starts moving

Organizers and regional media describe it as one of the largest events of its kind in Poland, with admission kept free so residents and visitors alike can sample the area's culinary range in one place
