Algarve Almond Blossom Festival in Castro Marim
The Algarve Almond Blossom Festival is a small hiking and heritage festival held each January or February in Alta Mora, a hillside hamlet in Castro Marim municipality, timed to the seasonal blossoming of almond trees across the interior Algarve. Organized by the local association ARCDAA, it combines signposted hiking trails with crafts, folk music, and a giant almond cake.
In the hills above Castro Marim, in the far eastern Algarve near the Spanish border, the hamlet of Alta Mora sits away from the beaches that define most visitors' image of the region.
