Regueifa and Biscuit Fair Valongo in Valongo
The Regueifa and Biscuit Fair is an annual municipal food fair in Valongo, near Porto, celebrating two local breads with centuries of history: regueifa, a braided loaf tied to Valongo's historic role supplying bread to Porto, and biscoito, a long-lasting biscuit created during the 1832-33 Siege of Porto.
Long before Valongo became a suburb known mainly for its proximity to Porto, the town was the city's bread basket in a very literal sense.
