Festival de la China Dulce in Las Marias
Las Marías, a small western Puerto Rican town whose agriculture includes bananas, coffee, and citrus, holds its Festival de las Chinas, or Festival de la China Dulce, each March to celebrate the local sweet orange harvest. Past editions have paired the citrus theme with major touring bands and visiting Cuban troubadours performing alongside local musicians.
Las Marías, tucked into the hills of western Puerto Rico, is not a large town, and its economy has long rested on a familiar trio of mountain crops: bananas, coffee, and citrus.
