Qatar Kite Festival in Old Doha Port

Held each January, the Qatar Kite Festival brings around twenty professional international kite-flying teams to Old Doha Port for large-scale aerial displays, carnival parades, kite-making workshops, and a children's fun zone. Earlier editions were staged at Museum of Islamic Art Park before the event moved to Old Doha Port.

Winter in Doha brings the region's most reliable onshore winds, a seasonal window that made kite flying a natural, low-cost pastime for generations of Gulf children long before it became an organized event.
