Honey Waterfalls Gastronomy Festival in Honey Waterfalls
At the Honey Waterfalls park hotel in Karachay-Cherkessia, a cascade of five waterfalls on the Alikonka River becomes the backdrop each June for a weekend of cheese, wine, and bard songs. More than thirty cheesemakers set up a fair alongside wine tastings from Stavropol vineyards, drawing thousands of visitors up from the nearby spa towns of Kislovodsk, Pyatigorsk, Essentuki, and Zheleznovodsk.
The Honey Waterfalls take their name from the amber color the water takes on as it tumbles over five limestone tiers on the Alikonka River, a short drive from Kislovodsk but administratively just across the border in Karachay-Cherkessia.
