Yukon Raven Historical and Cultural Festival in Nikolaevka
Nikolaevka, a village in Penza region and birthplace of nineteenth-century Alaska explorer Lavrentiy Zagoskin, hosts the Yukon Raven festival each September at the Mikhailovsky Redut site, named for the nickname Native Alaskans gave Zagoskin during his Yukon and Kuskokwim river expeditions. The sixth edition, held in 2025 alongside the Russian Geographical Society's 180th anniversary, featured concerts on the Kuskokwim stage, a photo exhibition, children's activities and a craft fair.
