The story

Retro Festival Zhiguli in Tolyatti

Tolyatti's July car festival celebrates the city's AvtoVAZ heritage with a retro rally bringing vehicles at least thirty years old from dozens of Russian cities, alongside a vintage car exhibition, retro picnics, costume parades and period live music. The sixth edition, marking AvtoVAZ's sixtieth anniversary, drew more than 15,000 visitors to the Sakharov Technical History Park.

Tolyatti built its identity around a single factory, and each July it puts that history on public display at the Retro Festival Zhiguli, held in the grounds of the Sakharov Park Complex of Technical History.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The retro rally draws pre-1995 vehicles from 28 different Russian cities to compete and display together, turning the festival into a national gathering point for vintage Soviet car ownership rather than a purely local event

02

The mystery stays covered

Held at the Sakharov Park Complex of Technical History and timed to AvtoVAZ's sixtieth anniversary, it pairs the car show with retro picnics, period costume parades and a karaoke competition built around Soviet-era pop music
