Belgrade Beer Fest is Southeastern Europe's largest beer festival, founded in 2003 and held every mid-August, now on Usce park at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. When Belgrade Beer Fest launched in August 2003, it opened not in a purpose-built festival field but on the grounds of Kalemegdan Fortress, the city's ancient citadel overlooking the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers.
