Turija Sausage Festival in Turija
Kobasicijada in Turija, a village near Srbobran in Vojvodina, is Serbia's best-known sausage festival, founded in 1985 after local hunters argued over whose sausage was best. Held every February, it centers on a giant sausage coil extended roughly a meter longer each year, now exceeding two kilometers and recognized as a Guinness World Record.
In the winter of 1985, a group of hunters and local hosts in the small Vojvodina village of Turija, near Srbobran, got into the kind of argument common at rural gatherings across Serbia: whose home-cured sausage was actually the best.
