Busan Jagalchi Festival in Busan
Busan's Jagalchi Festival turns the country's largest seafood market into a multi-day celebration structured around Opening, Oiso, Boiso, and Saiso madang, or gathering grounds, each with performances, exhibitions, or a lively fish auction. Free seafood tastings, a K-pop dance competition, and photo booths where visitors dress as traditional Jagalchi vendors round out the program.
Jagalchi Market has been Busan's seafood hub since the years following the Korean War, when displaced fishing families and traders settled along the city's waterfront and began selling their catch directly from the shore.
