Hoengseong Hanu Festival in Hoengseong
Gangwon Province's largest Korean beef festival, held each October along the Seomgang River in Hoengseong. Visitors buy hanu, the native beef breed, directly from local butchers at discounted prices and grill it themselves in dining tents, alongside farm experience programs and deodeok mountain-root specialties from the surrounding countryside.
Hoengseong, a rural county in Gangwon Province known for raising some of Korea's most prized beef cattle, holds what has become the country's largest festival dedicated to hanu, the native Korean beef breed, each October along the banks of the Seomgang River.
