Seoul Kimchi Festival in Seoul
A hands-on winter kimchi festival, held over three days in Seoul Plaza, Taepyeong-ro, and Gwanghwamun Square in the first week of November. Established in 2014 after UNESCO recognized Korea's kimjang tradition, it lets thousands of participants make, season, and take home their own kimchi, alongside tastings, cooking demonstrations, and ingredient sales at Korea's largest kimjang market.
Seoul Kimchi Festival was established in 2014, arriving a year after UNESCO added Korea's kimjang tradition, the communal practice of making large batches of kimchi together ahead of winter, to its list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
