Kiruna Snow Festival in Kiruna
Kiruna Snow Festival, or Kiruna snofestival, is a recurring winter and culture event held in central Kiruna since 1986, taking place at the end of January each year and centred on the international Kiruna International Snow Sculpting Competition and its carved ice and snow artworks.
Kiruna is Sweden's northernmost city, built above the Arctic Circle around the vast LKAB iron ore mine that has shaped the town's economy and, in recent years, forced a large-scale relocation of the town centre due to mining-related ground subsidence.
