Taipei Lantern Festival in Taipei
Taipei stages its own annual Lantern Festival around the Lunar New Year period, historically centered at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, which served as the fixed home of the national Taiwan Lantern Festival before it began touring to a different host city each year in 2001. The city has continued organizing its own lantern displays and events even as the national event moves elsewhere, keeping illuminated lantern culture visible in the capital every winter.
For decades before Taiwan's national Lantern Festival began touring the island, its single, fixed home was Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Park in Taipei, where illuminated lantern displays drew crowds each year during the Lunar New Year season.
