Festival de la Grenade de Gabes in Gabes

The Festival de la Grenade de Gabes celebrates the Gabes region's AOC-recognized pomegranate variety, grown in the coastal maritime oases in the shade of date palms. A recent edition ran October 17-19, 2025, in Kettana, near Gabes, with exhibitions, tastings, and scientific workshops on the pomegranate industry.

Along Tunisia's Gulf of Gabes, a small coastal oasis system does something unusual: it grows date palms almost within reach of the Mediterranean, and beneath their shade, pomegranate trees producing a variety now formally recognized as Grenade de Gabes, protected by an official geographical indication decree since 2009.
