Adana Orange Blossom Carnival in Adana
Each April, Adana fills with the scent of citrus blossom as the Orange Blossom Carnival takes over the city's tree-lined boulevards. Launched in 2013 by local businessman Ali Haydar Bozkurt and a civic committee under the slogan Nisan'da Adana'da (In April, in Adana), the carnival centers on a costumed street procession joined by tens of thousands, paired with concerts, exhibitions, and open-air performances across the city.
Every spring, when Adana's orange trees burst into bloom and their scent settles over the city's streets, residents mark the moment with a carnival unlike most others in Turkey: one built around a smell as much as a season.
