Bakiga Nation Rukundo Egumeho in Kampala/Kigezi community
Bakiga Nation - Rukundo Egumeho (Let Love Prevail in Rukiga) is an annual cultural festival in Kampala celebrating the Bakiga people of southwestern Uganda's Kigezi sub-region. Founded in 2016 with roughly 500 attendees at a small Bugolobi gathering, it marked its 10th anniversary in 2026 at Millennium Grounds, Lugogo, drawing thousands through music, dance, food, and craft from Kigezi culture.
Bakiga Nation, also known by its Rukiga-language name Rukundo Egumeho, meaning Let Love Prevail, began in 2016 as a modest gathering of around 500 people at Zone 7 in Bugolobi, Kampala, organized to bring together members of the Bakiga community living in the city and reconnect them with the culture of Kigezi, the hilly southwestern Uganda sub-region most Bakiga trace their roots to.
