Bereg Fest in Berehove
BEREG FEST is Zakarpattia's oldest festival, tracing back to a 1963 Ukrainian-Hungarian friendship celebration and relaunched in its current form in 2010 in Berehove. It centers on a costumed procession, a symbolic grape-treading rite, and community sport and craft contests rooted in the region's winemaking heritage.
BEREG FEST is described by local sources as the oldest festival in Zakarpattia, with origins reaching back to 1963, when regional leader Mykola Semeniuk launched it as part of Ukrainian-Hungarian neighborliness celebrations under the name Friendship Without Borders.
