Abergavenny Food Festival in Abergavenny
A food and drink festival held across Abergavenny's town centre each September, founded in 1999 in the aftermath of the BSE crisis. Producer stalls, chef demonstrations and food-politics debates have made it one of the UK's most respected food festivals since its modest thirty-nine-stall beginnings.
Abergavenny Food Festival was founded in 1999 by local farmer Chris Wardle and restaurateur Martin Orbach, planned the previous year in the wake of the BSE crisis that had devastated confidence in British beef and shaken the wider farming economy in Wales and England.
