Great British Beer Festival in London

Britain's flagship real ale festival, organised each August by CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale founded in 1971. Tracing back to a 1975 forerunner event in Covent Garden that drew forty thousand people, the festival has been formally staged since 1977 and settled permanently in London from 1991, presenting cask ales alongside the Champion Beer of Britain awards.

The Great British Beer Festival grew out of the Campaign for Real Ale, founded in 1971 by four men from north-west England responding to what they saw as the declining quality and blandness of British beer at the time.
