Bayfield Apple Festival in Bayfield
Bayfield Apple Festival is a harvest festival held each October in the Lake Superior town of Bayfield, Wisconsin, since 1962. Founded after orchard owner Jim Erickson's truck broke down en route to sell apples in Duluth, it now draws around 60,000 visitors for orchard tours, a grand parade down Rittenhouse Avenue, and apple-focused food and craft vendors.
Bayfield Apple Festival traces back to a single mechanical failure in 1962, when local orchard owner Jim Erickson's truck broke down on the road to Duluth, where he had planned to sell his season's apple harvest.
