World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-Off in Brady
The World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-Off has been held in Brady, a small McCulloch County ranching town that calls itself the True Heart of Texas, every Labor Day weekend since 1974. What started as a 16-team Jaycees fundraiser has grown into the largest and longest-running goat cookoff of its kind in Texas, now drawing more than 200 competing cook teams alongside an arts and crafts fair, live regional country and Texas music acts, and a companion Goat Gallop run.
Its unusual food focus and official municipal identity make it a Texas weird-food keeper.
