Hobo Days in Britt
Hobo Days is Britt's annual community festival and home of the National Hobo Convention, hosted continuously since 1900, making it one of the oldest continuously run gatherings of its kind in the United States. Held in mid-August at Hobo Jungle, Veterans Park, and the Hobo Cemetery, it features a parade, a King and Queen of the Hoboes crowning, a memorial service, and a classic car show.
Hobo Days in Britt, Iowa traces its origin to 1900, when the small north Iowa town first hosted what became the National Hobo Convention, an annual gathering of hoboes, rail-riders, and travelers that has continued in Britt with striking consistency for well over a century, making it one of the longest continuously running gatherings of its kind anywhere in the United States.
