Louisiana Corn Festival in Bunkie
Louisiana Corn Festival turns Bunkie's streets into an outdoor dining room for three days each June, built around corn cooking, shucking, and eating contests. A parade, pirogue races, and a softball tournament add competition beyond the food, while live music and a street dance keep the evenings going. The festival has run since 1986.
By late afternoon, the air in Bunkie feels seasoned: grilled corn, fryer oil, sugar, and that damp Louisiana heat that makes everybody slow down just enough to talk.
