Cave City Watermelon Festival in Cave City
The Cave City Watermelon Festival has run since 1980, celebrating a local watermelon variety that has tested with notably higher sugar content than other Arkansas-grown melons. Held over three summer days in July in this small Sharp County town, the free festival features live country music headliners, games, food, and watermelon sold and sampled throughout downtown.
Cave City is a small town in Sharp County in north-central Arkansas, and its identity is built almost entirely around one crop: watermelons grown so sweet that they have become the town's defining export.
