Chincoteague Seafood Festival in Chincoteague
The Chincoteague Seafood Festival, held the first Saturday in May at Tom's Cove Park, has been an island tradition for more than five decades, celebrating the seafood industry of Virginia's Eastern Shore. The chamber-sponsored, all-you-can-eat event serves local specialties including little neck clams, raw oysters, clam fritters, fried oysters and fish, crab-stuffed dishes, and steamed shrimp, alongside live music and dancing.
The Chincoteague Seafood Festival grew out of the same island economy that has defined this small Eastern Shore community for generations: a livelihood built on clamming, oystering, and other seafood harvesting from the waters surrounding Chincoteague and Assateague Islands.
