Penn Cove Musselfest in Coupeville

Since 1986, Coupeville, Washington has marked the harvest of Penn Cove mussels with Musselfest, a festival centered on the historic downtown of this small Whidbey Island town. Restaurants compete in a chowder tasting contest, chefs run mussel cooking demonstrations, and visitors can tour the actual mussel beds by boat, drawing more than 6,000 people to help merchants through Whidbey's slow winter season.
