Turpentine Creek Kite Festival in Eureka Springs
Held each spring at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge near Eureka Springs, the Kite Festival is a free, family-friendly event where visitors fly homemade or provided kites across the refuge grounds. Now in its fourth decade, it partners with kite specialists KaleidoKites and includes vendors, raffles, and an appearance by the Northwest Arkansas Naturals baseball mascot.
Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge sits on 459 acres outside Eureka Springs, a sanctuary built to care for big cats and other animals rescued from abuse, neglect, and abandonment, many of them former exotic pets or roadside attraction animals surrendered once they grew too large or dangerous to keep.
