Hamtramck Paczki Day in Hamtramck
Hamtramck Paczki Day is the Michigan enclave city's outsized annual celebration of paczki, the rich, fruit- or cream-filled Polish doughnuts traditionally eaten on Fat Tuesday before Lent. Hamtramck's dense concentration of Polish bakeries has made its Paczki Day observance one of the most widely recognized versions of the tradition in the United States.
Its specific food and Polish-American identity make it a great Michigan row.
