Okra Strut in Irmo

The Okra Strut is Irmo, South Carolina's annual fall festival, held every October since 1973, when the Women's Club of Lake Murray and Irmo launched it as a fried-okra fundraiser to build the town's first library. Billed as the largest and longest-running celebration of okra in the United States, the festival now centers on a large parade, carnival rides, live music, and an okra-eating contest.
