The story

Little River ShrimpFest in Little River

Little River ShrimpFest celebrates the fishing village's local seafood heritage each October along the Historic Little River Waterfront. Now in its twentieth year, the two-day festival gathers more than one hundred arts, crafts, food, and community vendors under the waterfront's live oaks, alongside two stages of live music, stilt walkers, and balloon artists.

Little River ShrimpFest grew out of the same working-harbor identity that defines much of the town itself, a historic fishing village on South Carolina's northern coast that has supplied shrimp and other seafood to the region for generations.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

ShrimpFest's setting under the century-old live oaks of the Historic Little River Waterfront gives it a distinct atmosphere among South Carolina seafood festivals, combining shaded, old-fashioned Southern street-festival charm with direct proximity to the working harbor that supplies much of the fresh shrimp served on-site

02

The mystery stays covered

With more than one hundred vendors and two full stages of live music, the two-day event has grown steadily since its founding while retaining an intentionally small-town, community-organization feel through its Chamber of Commerce sponsorship

03

The city starts moving

Circus-style entertainment such as stilt walkers and balloon artists, alongside a dedicated Kids Zone, broaden the festival's appeal to families beyond its core seafood focus
