World Chicken Festival in London
The World Chicken Festival is a four-day event held the last full weekend of September in downtown London, Kentucky, celebrating the region's ties to Colonel Harland Sanders and the founding of Kentucky Fried Chicken. Highlights include the World's Largest Stainless Steel Skillet and dozens of contests and carnival attractions.
Before Colonel Harland Sanders became a global fast-food icon, he ran a roadside restaurant and motel in Corbin, Kentucky, not far from London, perfecting the pressure-fried chicken recipe that would eventually launch Kentucky Fried Chicken into a worldwide chain.
