Loris Bog-Off Festival in Loris
The Loris Bog-Off Festival celebrates chicken bog, a Horry County rice-and-sausage dish with roots in local farm kitchens, each October in downtown Loris, South Carolina. Sponsored by the Loris Chamber of Commerce since 1980, the festival centers on a judged chicken bog cooking contest alongside a car and tractor show, two stages of live music, and craft vendors.
The Loris Bog-Off Festival began in 1980 as a straightforward cooking contest built around chicken bog, a dish so specific to South Carolina's Pee Dee and Horry County region that it remains largely unknown outside it.
