Luling Watermelon Thump in Luling
Luling Watermelon Thump is a four-day late-June festival in downtown Luling, running since 1954 to celebrate the area's watermelon-farming economy. Its seed-spitting contest is the signature event, alongside a championship-melon weigh-off, a parade, and a classic-car show, drawing more than 30,000 visitors, down from a peak of roughly 40,000 in the 1980s.
Its specific crop theme and quirky name give it real guidebook character.
