The Oyster Festival in Oyster Bay
The Oyster Festival fills Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park on Oyster Bay Harbor each October with a waterfront tribute to Long Island's oystering past. The free two-day event, run as a benefit for the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center, mixes competitive oyster shucking and eating with tall ships, live music, and a juried craft market by the water.
Its local oyster identity and large public attendance make it a strong Long Island food row.
