Ocean Beach Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off in San Diego

Founded in 1984 by chili enthusiast Mike Akey and his father Angie Scaramuzzo, the Ocean Beach Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off fills six square blocks of the Ocean Beach neighborhood with arts, crafts, food, and a competitive chili contest. What began as an International Chili Society-sanctioned event shifted to an amateur format in 1987 and remains a San Diego summer fixture.
