Saranac Lake Winter Carnival in Saranac Lake
Running since 1897, the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival is the longest-running event of its kind in the eastern United States, centered on an Ice Palace built each year from blocks harvested off frozen Lake Flower. The roughly ten-day February celebration includes a King and Queen coronation, a Gala Parade and a fireworks-lit opening ceremony.
Its age and ice-palace tradition make it one of New York's best winter events.
